Allied Waste
Yesterday we gave CJ an early surprise for his birthday. I arranged for a VIP tour of Allied Waste! They were SO AWESOME. I had called earlier in the week and explained to a lovely lady named Linda that I had an almost 4 year-old who loved her trash trucks and could he possibly come and see one? So when he got there yesterday, Linda had not only arranged for him to see one trash truck, but to ride in THREE different trash trucks. And, they made sure they saved a dumpster and two garbage cans full of trash especially so CJ could dump them into the trucks himself. Then they presented him with a personalized card signed by all their drivers and a huge birthday bag full of all sorts of Allied Waste goodies: a flourescent beanie, reflector pins, safety goggles, key chains, a REMOTE CONTROL TRASH TRUCK!!!! two frisbees (one for him and one for his dog Mac), pencils, rulers, etc. He hasn't stopped talking about it and told me his "dream had come true!"

Actually, I want to know, were the people at Allied Waste just as excited to show him all the cool stuff as he was to look at it?

That is the best birthday ever, I also echo the sentiment that they were probably THRILLED that he was so interested in what they do. It isn't exactly the most common obsession...

I love that kid, he is great. Happy Birthday CJ

What a great idea! I too have a little boy who told me the other day, "Mama, I'm not going to go to college because I want to be a garbage man when I grow up." His birthday is this week and you have inspired me! I'm off to call our garbage company right now.

That look on his happy little face is, I suppose, why we keep at it every day, huh?

Nice going mom.

Go Allied Waste! How sweet that they made his day so special and gave him such great stuff.

Great idea to call the trash company! I'm sure you'll be hearing about it for years to come!
